The continued drought in Iowa has pushed up the date for trees in Iowa changing colors this year. Many areas of the state are already deep into their autumn transformation. Below are the areas of the state and their expected peak colors. For more information, and a guide as to which trees turn which shades, see the Iowa Department of Natural Resources website.

  • West Central Iowa – October 12-18
  • Central Iowa – October 8-14
  • East Central Iowa – October 8-14
  • Southwest Iowa – October 11-16
  • South Central Iowa – October 16-20
  • Southeast Iowa – Peak Now – October 20
